Playa del Carmen and the disco
Aug. 24, 2024Yes yes here we go. From the cab of Amando a short message. What a day it was yesterday. Unbelievable.

It was just under 8:30 in the morning and I awoke to a sweet kiss and a stroke on my, increasingly graying, globe. The day had begun!
After a delicious breakfast with the necessary vitamins and other valuable nutrients, it was time to forge a plan. After all, you never know what a day will bring. We decided to take it easy first and after a brief chat with the cabana manager, and a firm handshake with some dollars in it, took a seat in a VIP spot by the luxurious pool. What a life! The view was top notch, the music was nice and a breeze blew gently over Michje (and myself).

Buenos diaz amigos, it sounded in no time. The little Mexican man named Emir was going to make sure no drink was missing. So we kindly asked him to serve us two juices. Very cool service, we felt almost noble haha.
But now. We weren't going to hang out on a bed by the pool all day, were we? No said Michelle, once, that's boring. So time on the whatsapp to send a message to Amando.

We would like to go to a real Mexican super market! And maybe go to Parque de las Palapas after that. Are you ok with that? A few minutes passed and we got confirmation that Amando would be there around 6 p.m. or so. Because that's when things really got fun in the neighborhoods and streets around the Parque de las Palapas.

What a splendor was that supermarket we went to. A rainbow of colors smiled at us in the fruit and vegetable department, and fresher meat, fish and vegetables couldn't possibly be. The smells were amazing. Unfortunately, of course, we cannot buy fresh produce for a hotel room, but oh how we would have loved to spend a day cooking with all these beautiful ingredients.
Anyway.... The supermarket, then. But now, on to the Marquesitas in the authentic Parque de las Palapas. We knew it. We arrived and immediately noticed that no English was spoken here. But what a party! Mexican people dancing in the streets, children playing and driving around in toy cars, smells of dozens of stalls with all the street food you can imagine!
Where are we going to eat then Mich? Michelle looked at me as if I were asking a question I was sure she had the answer to. Yes ehm I don't know anyway honey! There is so much!!! Finally, we decided to put the often reliable yardstick alongside it: Where did the locals line up? That turned out to be a good move, because before we knew it we had a plate of authentic food in our hands and were invited to dress up our tortillas with a variety of salsas

After said decorating session, it was time to sink our teeth in, and to the accompaniment of loud music we had a delicious meal. What a taste explosion !

Delicious! Anyway, Ayana..... For years she's been telling us that nutella and cheese on a pancake is delicious. And several times I have told her that this cannot be done and is really culinary irresponsible... Turns out there is an entire country that loves this. Here they know it as marquesitas. A crispy pancake with Nutella, strawberries, philadelphia, and um... grated cheese. Lots and lots of cheese!

And believe me. The photo does not do justice to the size of this unit. This thing was gigantic! So we kindly asked the folks at Lizeth's marquesitas to make only 1. And honestly ... Ayana was right!

How terribly delicious this was. Super potent but super tasty. So with this Ayana...YOU WERE WELL and I won't bully you anymore!!!
When we were back in the cab, Amando finished speaking English hand and foot and came up with the idea of using Google Translate!!! Aaah!!! Translatos los Googlelos , I exclaimed with a smile! Amando laughed. But it worked! Haha, and so we decided to ask Amando right away for today's ride. Off to Playa del Carmen! So keep an eye on us and we'll probably still be streaming and uploading stuff!!!
¡Que tengas un hermoso día queridos! And if you don't know what that means: Translatos los Googlelos!!! 🤣

How wonderful to see this. It's like we are there too and we understand how excited you are at seeing all those stalls, smells and people ... what an experience.
Thanks for letting us enjoy the country, the people and the food with you. Glad you guys are enjoying sooo much. ❤️❤️❤️😘
😂😂It's like a story from bouquet series.... Gently she stroked my hair ... I'm not coming around anymore. But anyway the adventure has already started I read starting with the language and just going with the flow. A bit different from our streamlined lives full of to do. Just connect and see what you get and that turns out to be very surprising ... on to lots of good food and making memories together.
❤️love you
It's all great though, fantastic food and white beaches and clear blue sea, but we miss Chichen Itza and Tulum!
Wonderful trip you made! Have a good trip back!
